The prolific hip-hop artist from New Delhi will release his third full-length in September

New Delhi rapper Ikka has signed to T-Series, with the announcement coinciding with the 50 years of hip-hop being marked around the globe. With thisdeal, Ikka will release his next album in September.

The artist says in a statement, “It’s a great deal of joy and honor for me to be associated with [T-Series chairman and managing director] Bhushan Sir. I am hoping to add to T-Series reputation with hip-hop music that is growing immensely in India, especially amongst the youth. Together, we aim to take the music scene a notch higher.”

Ikka’s next album is the follow-up to his 2022 album Nishu and 2020’s I. In between, he’s notched up several collaborations to add star power to any Indian hip-hop song, working with the likes of Diljit Dosanjh, Badshah, Raftaar, MC Stan and DIVINE. Even as he signs with T-Series, Ikka released I via Mass Appeal India and Nishu via the Raftaar co-founded Kalamkaar. Ever the prolific rapper, Ikka recently featured with a verse on “Gundagardi” by Kolkata-bred, New Delhi-based rapper J Trix and producer Subspace, released via Def Jam India.

He said earlier this year about his plans for the year, during his cover story interview with Rolling Stone India, “Now, the competition is so heavy that we need to put in extra effort, which is actually good in a way as it brings out the best in you. Gradually dreams are coming true, and I am thankful to the almighty who blessed me with this talent. 2023 is special to me as there are a lot of opportunities, I have a great team and a lot more music is coming your way.”

T-Series, for its part, has upped the number of artists it’s working with outside of film soundtracks, where it has the largest catalog. Artists like Kanishk Seth, Faridkot and others have released music via the label.
