With eleven dams in Maharashtra’s Marathwada left with just a three percent water level and 15,500 villages out of 28,000 hit with severe drought, the water crisis in the state has never been worse.

In an endeavor to offer some monetary relief to the drought victims, various independents artists in Delhi and Mumbai have joined hands with Antisocial, artist management company Big Bad Wolf and NGO Pyaas. They will perform at a two-city concert series titled ”˜Paani’.

Singer and multi-instrumentalist Dhruv Visvanath, electronic duo Komorebi, singer-songwriter Aditya Balani and more will perform in New Delhi on June 2nd 2016, while indie artist Tejas Menon, singer-drummer Sidd Coutto and others will take the stage in Mumbai on June 9th, 2016. All donations from both gigs will be sent to the NGO Give India who will match the total amount contributed, doubling it.

“I believe that a lot of people really struggle to talk about certain issues,” says Visvanath.  “It isn’t the most comfortable of conversations when you’re at a gathering and you talk about those who are suffering.” He explains that the event is a simple way to make it easier for people to come together, donate and create a discussion, while also having a great time.

The entry for the concert is Rs. 500 without cover. Says Visvanath,“I’m really happy to see that it’s not the food or anything else that you pay for as you enter. It’s that the moment you walk through the door, you’ve already made another person’s day that much better.”

Antisocial Delhi will host Paani on June 2nd 2016, while Antisocial Mumbai will host Paani on June 9th 2016. For more information, click here or visit www. pyaas.org to make a donation.
