The New Delhi/Chicago/New York-based artist called on Mumbai producer-singer Kanishk Seth for her latest release
A rare love song from Indo-American singer-songwriter Subhi Khanna, the 2017 release “Aagosh” has still been a regular part of the artist’s performances and video uploads. “Many times, people have requested me to sing ‘Aagosh’ for their partners, significant others and it’s so wonderful to see so many people relate to this song,” she says.
Three years on, Subhi returns to the pop song with an assist from producer-singer Kanishk Seth, who crafts minimal, subtle yet impact-bearing electronic pop version. “He gave a refreshingly modern twist to the song,” she adds. Subhi mentions that she first came across Seth after watching a digital concert of his, while preparing for her own. Subhi adds, “As I listened to his music and heard his stories, I felt connected to him. The next morning, I reached out to him on Instagram to see if he would be interested in a collaboration. That’s how it all started.”
While this one might be a re-imagination of existing material, Subhi is prepping to release four English songs later this year, followed by her debut English-language EP. The first of them is called “In My Way,” slated for October. She adds, “This will be my debut English song. I am very excited to share it with the world. I am also working with a Mumbai based producer on an English single. I can’t share the name of the producer yet. The song is going to be awesome.”
