Indus Creed’s Comeback Album ‘Evolve’ Gets Limited Edition Vinyl Release

Kolkata’s Free School Street Records have pressed a total of 250 copies, with the LP including their 2017 single “Thief” as a bonus track

The year 2022 marked a decade since the release of rock band Indus Creed’s album Evolve. Their first album in 17 years, when Evolve released in 2012, it was also on the back of vocalist-guitarist Uday Benegal, guitarist Mahesh Tinaikar and keyboardist Zubin Balaporia regrouping in 2010.

The fourth album is now getting a vinyl pressing courtesy of Kolkata label Free School Street Records with a bonus track – their 2017 single “Thief.” The limited-edition 100 copies on blue vinyl have already sold out on vinyl store The Revolver Club, with 150 more copies on the regular black LPs still on sale. Pre-bookings for the vinyl originally began in late 2022.

Free School Street Records founders Aveek Chatterjee and Rajiv Pandey say they are ardent fans of Indus Creed from their early days and wanted to mark the 10th anniversary of Evolve with a vinyl release. Previously, the label has put out singer-songwriter Susmit Bose’s Train to Calcutta and blues act The Arinjoy Trio’s self-titled album on vinyl.

The label says in a press release, “While Aveek has done the project ideation and handled legal, financial & promotional/marketing aspects of the release, Rajiv, on the other hand, has done the audio mastering and artwork design for vinyl – everything with full participation, co-operation and consent of the band members.”

Available since March 1st via The Revolver Club, the Evolve deluxe limited-edition LP also has a four-page colored insert featuring Indus Creed band photos and song lyrics, plus a Japanese-style OBI strip to draw in vinyl collectors. The press release adds, “The LP has been pressed on 180 gm audiophile virgin vinyl at a leading European pressing plant. Both Rajiv and Aveek consider this vinyl reissue as a special release as it is their tribute to this majestic album and their teenage rock heroes. They sincerely hope the Indus Creed fans would be overjoyed with this vinyl release.”
