Alongside set staples like ‘Fireflies,’ the band plan to bring a special guest at their gig at Fandom at Gilly's Redefined
Mumbai/Goa-based rock veterans Indus Creed have sprung back to action in earnest this year and will perform in Bengaluru on May 4th, at Fandom at Gilly’s Redefined.
Vocalist-guitarist Uday Benegal, guitarist Mahesh Tinaikar and keyboardist Zubin Balaporia will be joined by drummer Pushkar Joshi (from metal band Primitiv) and bassist Yohann Coutinho (from alt rock band Unohu and more recently, sessions artist for singer-songwriters Kamakshi Khanna, Lothika and more).
The band behind songs like “Fireflies,” “Trapped” and “Pretty Child” will return for the first time in more than a year – their last Bengaluru performance came as part of marketplace and festival Sunday Soul Sante in January 2023. Prior to that, in 2017, they last headlined college gig Strawberry Fields at the National Law School, Bengaluru.
Indus Creed do have something special planned for Bengaluru, however. The band says in a statement, “We’re going to be playing a mixed bag of originals from days past and recent, as well as some covers we love. We’re also going to feature an amazing guest…maybe even two. We’re so looking forward to playing in Bangalore again – and to our first time at Fandom, which we’ve heard great things about.”
In fact, they gigs have only recently picked up for Indus Creed, who also released a limited edition vinyl pressing for their 2012 album Evolve via KolkataFree School Street Records in early 2023. They’ve since gone on to perform at the Sunday Soul Sante in Mumbai, while also being part of a curated set at Serendipity Arts Festival in Goa, bringing in rising artists like singer-songwriter Anoushka Maskey, guitarist Niveditha Ode Linda and percussionist Shikhar Naad Qureshi, among others.
While there hasn’t been much movement on the studio releases front ever since Evolve, Bengal did bring in Tinaikar and Balaporia on his recent solo song, “Hollow Bones.”
Ticketed by Paytm Insider, phase 1 tickets are currently on sale, priced at ₹699. A ₹500 cover charge is also applicable at the door.
