The Bengaluru bands will give city’s metal fans an end-of-the-year gig to remember
Last year, Bengaluru thrash metallers Inner Sanctum kicked off The Mighty Riff, a platform for bands from the city to “put out killer live shows” as the event management agency’s website suggests. Riffolution 2012 is one such show that will be backed by The Mighty Riff, but this time around Inner Sanctum joins forces with Bengaluru doom metallers Bevar Sea. The show that will also feature folk thrashers The Down Troddence from Kerala and Pune metallers Gaia’s Throne, will be entirely self-funded tells us Inner Sanctum guitarist Chintan Chinnappa.
Since the gig is driven by Bevar Sea and Inner Sanctum, Chinnappa is confident that bands will find no reason to complain. “We’ve ensured that the bands from out of town are given the best accommodation possible,” says Chinnappa, “We’re also going to make sure that the gig starts early [at 4.30pm] and winds up by 9.30 pm, so people can get out for a drink and have the rest of the night to themselves.”
The Mighty Riff plans to turn Riffolution into an annual affair with international acts being flown down a couple of years down the line. “We hosted a gig with Bevar Sea performing again with us at Alliance Francaise last year and it got a good turnout,” says Chinnappa, “We were expecting only about 200 people, but 400 showed up.”
Both Bevar Sea, who released their debut self-titled album earlier this year, and Inner Sanctum will perform hour-long sets with The Down Troddence and Gaia’s Throne playing 40-minute sets. Graphic artists Scribble Bandit and Acid Toad, the art project of Inner Sanctum frontman Gaurav Basu will also showcase their works at the event.
Riffolution will take place on December 30th at 4.30 pm at No Limmits, Opposite Garuda Mall in Bengaluru. Entry Rs. 300. For details, click hereÂ
