Bengaluru metal band Inner Sanctum will head out on a eight-city Wake of Destruction tour of Europe in June, including stops at Chronical Moshers Open Air in Hauptmannsgrün, Germany and Metalfest in Jaworzno, Poland.

Inner Sanctum’s tour announcement comes a month after fellow Bengaluru metallers Kryptos announced their Coils Around Europe Tour, scheduled for July. “We’ve been planning this tour since early 2012 and building contacts in Europe. I’ve probably sent out over a 100 mails and half the time you never get a reply. It’s been a crazy experience, but in the end, it’s quite fulfilling to see what we were able to do,” says bassist and manager Abhishek Michael of their Europe tour.

Apart from the two festivals, the band has also planned club shows in Germany with gigs in Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Bonn and Cologne, while another city is yet to be confirmed. “Hopefully, we can manage to build a small fan base in Europe through this tour. It’s going to be a good learning experience just to feel how tours work is going to be awesome experience in itself,” says Michael, who adds the band will now start applying for their visas.

The tour setlist will be similar to the last few gigs they’ve played, along the lines of their Mumbai appearance at RAIT Unchained in February, adds Michael. “We might have some new material for them, but since we don’t have a huge back catalog, we’re going to be playing a mix of our EP and songs that will end up on the album,” says Michael. While Inner Sanctum haven’t planned a pre-tour show in India, their next local gig is at the GoMad festival in Ooty in May.

The band plans to head into the studio after returning from Europe. “We’re looking to have an album out by the end of the year or beginning of the next year, hopefully,” the bassist says.
