Iron Maiden Release New Track “Speed of Light” After Five Years

The British legends released the first single off their upcoming album ‘The Book of Souls’

Aug 14, 2015

Almost four decades into the band’s career, heavy metal legends Iron Maiden are showing no signs of slowing down. After the release of their fifteenth studio album The Final Frontier in 2010, Maiden are back after almost five years with their first single “Speed of Light” from their upcoming double CD The Book of Souls.

Following vocalist Bruce Dickinson’s cancer diagnosis in 2014, the band’s first-ever double-length studio release was delayed until Dickinson recovered completely. Back in top form, however, the band is ready to release their sixteenth studio album on September 4th. The Book Of Souls was recorded in Paris with the band’s longstanding producer Kevin ”˜Caveman’ Shirley, with the finishing touches added earlier this year.

Maiden released “Speed Of Light” with a bonus animated video, that comes across as an homage to the evolution of video gaming, with the band’s iconic mascot Eddie traveling through time and space to fight various opponents, win the girl, eventually emerging victorious against even the pixilated devil himself which earns him a befitting 6,66,666 points. Go Eddie, and go Maiden!
