Director Romain Gavras travels to Chinese city of Tianducheng, a Paris replica, for 'In Colour' video
Jamie xx racked up one of the Songs of the Summer 2015 with his In Colour single “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times),” and over a year later, the xx member has released his new video for the album’s opening track “Gosh.”
The video jumps from a fluorescent labyrinth where kids are hooked up to VR machines to the steps of an abandoned church to a bird’s-eye view of the seemingly empty city, where a cast of hundreds stand on their balcony. In the end, the main character, an albino, is worshipped by an army of tracksuited youths underneath the faux-Eiffel.
Like Gavras’ other videos, the director fills each frame with stunning visuals and complex choreography. “Romain Gavras has directed some of my very favourite music videos,” xx said in a statement to Apple Music, who premiered the video. “I’m so happy that my music inspired him to make something this incredible for GOSH…”
