Sik-K joined the label in 2017 while JayB enter an exclusive contract in 2021
Earlier today, Korean R&B and hip-hop label H1GHR Music announced the departure of singer-songwriter Jay B and rapper Sik-K. Citing contractual expiration, the label extended their full support, wishing the artists the best for the future.
“Hello. This is H1GHR Music,” the label’s tweet reads. “Our contracts with Sik-K and Jay B have expired, and we have agreed that it is best to continue their careers on a different path. We will always support them as family forever.”
While Sik-K’s next move remains unknown, it seems like the GOT7 leader has found a new label. Going by Jay B’s Instagram activities, the singer recently followed CDNZA records. The label’s Instagram account also hosts a 9×9 grid welcoming the GOT7 leader to their label.
The contractual expiration news comes a few days after the label announced “BRB” – a collaborative single featuring Jay Park, Cha Cha Malone, Sik-K, pH-1, Groovy Room, Haon, BIG Naughty, Trade L, Park Hyun Jin and Jay B. The song is set for release on July 27th.
Following GOT7’s departure from JYP Entertainment, H1GHR Music was home to Jay B’s artistic endeavors for a little over a year. During this time, the GOT7 leader released two EPs; SOMO: FUME and Love, under his moniker Def. After releasing his first EP Flip in 2016, Sik-K joined H1GHR Music in 2017 and remained an active member of the Korean hip-hop community until he enlisted for his mandatory military duties in 2020. Under H1GHR Music, the rapper released four EPs and two studio albums.
Earlier this year, rapper-songwriter and producer Jay Park announced he will be stepping down as CEO at H1GHR Music and AOMG. Though Park is no longer overlooking the operations at both labels, the entertainment business mogul continues to work with them in an advisory capacity.
