Korean-American hip-hop superstar Jay Park made a comeback on July 12th with the shimmering R&B English single, “Need To Know.” The release follows his mega-hit March release “Ganadara” which featured South Korean pop superstar IU.

Produced by Park’s friend and long-time collaborator Cha Cha Malone, “Need To Know” is a breezy, intricate number reminiscent of old-school R&B vibes from the 2000s as well as Park’s earlier releases like “All I Wanna Do” and “Yacht.” The rapper and singer asks his lover if she’d come on a journey with him so that he can magically whisk her away to paradise: “Do you wanna ride with me?/ Girl, I’ll take you on an odyssey/ Baby, we can sail away/ Up in the ocean, feel the motion/ Said, I need to know, need to know, baby.”

The endearing music video sees Park play two roles – Won Man, a cosmic superhero, and Glasses Man, a slightly nerdy guy-next-door. The clip begins with Glasses Man asking his love interest (played by professional dancer Noze) out on a movie date. While she agrees to go with him, she doesn’t seem too interested, more fascinated by the hero Won Man featured in the film they’re watching. Much to her shock, Glasses Man transforms into Won Man before her very eyes and the two dance the night away together before she is transported back to her date, wondering if the entire thing was a dream or reality.

“Need To Know” was released under More Vision, Park’s latest venture after his roles in the co-founding of South Korea’s most popular hip-hop and R&B labels, AOMG and H1GHR Music. Park will also be headlining 88rising’s ‘Head in the Clouds’ music festival in California next month.
