Vocalist & guitarist Arsh Sharma of The Circus spoke to ROLLING STONE INDIA about the party-loving concept behind their ”˜Best Song’ nominee, ”˜F.O.P.S’
“Well ”˜F.O.P.S’ refers to ”˜Full on Party Scene.’ It was one of those typical Delhi phrases bouncing around the city. Actually, it’s a standard Abhinav Chaudhary (bassist) line, and we all decided we’d name whatever song we wrote next after that. So the one you’ve ended up hearing was called ”˜F.O.P.S’ because we had no choice in the matter”, Sharma grins.
The band, euphoric about their nomination, is grappling with a couple of clashing gigs to make the sojourn to Mumbai for the awards. ”˜The awards are down in Mumbai and we’re really hoping to make it. The night’s bound to be brilliant – for sure”, says Sharma
He feels that everyone worth being nominated was. “Overall, we feel it’s a pretty perfect list. All the bands we’re fond of made that list, so no complaints in that department. Of the lot, I think Undying Inc, is a complete powerhouse of a band ”“ they deserve every bit of the nominations they’ve gotten”, Says Sharma. “Menwhopause, too, is the kind of band that’s going to keep making great music ”“ they’re pretty killer, in our opinion”, he adds as a parting note.
The Circus is nominated for Best Song (‘F.O.P.S’) and Best Bassist (Abhinav Chaudhary).
