Ji Chang-wook and EXO’s D.O Square Off in ‘Fragmented City’
Ji Chang-wook plays a deliveryman who gets framed and imprisoned but seeks revenge against the mastermind played by D.O after his release
Fragmented City has been generating excitement ever since the lead cast was announced. Korean superstar Ji Chang-wook and K-pop sensation and acclaimed actor Doh Kyung-soo, D.O of EXO, share the center stage in this crime thriller, hitting Disney+ on Nov. 5.
Co-directed by Park Shin-woo and Kim Chang-ju, Fragmented City is about a man who abruptly finds himself slapped with a false criminal charge, turning his life upside down overnight.
Ji Chang-wook plays Park Tae-jung, a hardworking deliveryman trying to build a life. One day, during a delivery run, he finds a stray mobile phone and answers a call where a woman appeals for help getting it back. Soon after, Tae-jung finds himself entangled in vicious incidents and winds up in jail for a crime he’s innocent of.
Trapped and helpless, Tae-jung adapts to life in jail, but once released, he’s dead set on digging out the truth – and discovers he’s been a mere pawn orchestrated by An Yo-han, played by D.O. The revelation triggers a burning rage, turning him to revenge.
Fragmented City revives Ji Chang-wook’s iconic action-hero archetype, while D.O embraces his dark antagonist side. The show teaser previews Ji’s character evolving from pure innocence to painful vulnerability and then culminating into a man gone rogue, juxtaposed with D.O’s unsettling coldness, psychopathic traits, and serious villainy through intense action and fast chases.
As reported by Chosun Biz, Ji Chang-wook said that it’s a revenge drama he’s been a part of “for the first time in a long time,” while D.O emphasized that “the fast-paced development and dopamine-filled action scenes are the highlights.” He also mentioned that the drama stands out in its distinct characters, which also include Lee Kwang-soo, Jo Yoon-su, and Pyo Ye-jin.
Fragmented City follows Ji Chang-wook’s portrayal of a mysterious broker reigning over Gangnam in the crime thriller Gangnam B-Side (2024) and D.O’s portrayal of a piano prodigy in the romantic fantasy film Secret: Untold Melody (2025).
