Singer-Songwriters, and Hip-Hop and Fusion Artists Make It To JioSaavn Spotted Hindi Top 15
The finalists will now vie to be in the top five, based on their streaming numbers
What’s bubbling in independent and unsigned music from India’s Hindi artists? In order to find out, check out the shortlist of 15 artists and their songs that recently launched music talent hunt JioSaavn Spotted has unveiled for the Hindi round.
From these 15 songs, the five most streamed tracks on JioSaavn will be sent to composer Salim Merchant, hip-hop artist DIVINE, folk-fusion and playback artist Papon, and singer-composer Jonita Gandhi. They are the jury members who’ve been tasked with picking one final winner for the Hindi round of JioSaavn Spotted 2022.
The finalists so far range from producer Keydroid aka Rakshit Thantry (“Saawan Laye” features singer-songwriter Onkar Tarkase); fusion-rock artist Aseem Trivedi (“Durga”); and gentler, spirited pop artists Shubham J (“Main Hu Hi Kiya”), Anmol Jaswal (“Raat Bhar”), Siddharth Agarwal (“Banja Beimaan”) and Arya Salvi (“Ragini”). Gravity (“Sim Sim” featuring fellow Mumbai rapper Shah Rule) and Ansh Jain (“Jee Lagta”) bring hip-hop and R&B on board, and there’s also shimmering pop from Aman Sagar (“Tere Irade”) and a melodramatic turn from Rajeshwari on “Sun.”
There’s certainly a dose of mellowness and angst present amongst JioSaavn Spotted’s Hindi finalists, as evidenced in AB & Aryaman’s “Ghadi Ke Haath,” and more surging arrangements put together by Koustav Dasgupta (“Mera Pata”) and Surya Pratap Singh Shekhawat (“Dil Ke Saaye”).
Launched on April 25th and concluding on December 10th, JioSaavn Spotted 2022 will see four zonal rounds – East, West, North and South – as well as three language rounds – English, Hindi, Punjabi.
