“I still carry the part with me,” says Meryl Streep, pointing to her hips. The joke is she’s playing Julia Child, the chef who never skimped on fattening butter. Director Nora Ephron adapts the book by Julie Powell (Amy Adams), a Queens secretary who cooked all 524 recipes in the chef’s cookbook.
