Director Nora Ephron adapts the book by Julie Powell (Amy Adams), a Queens secretary who cooked all 524 recipes in the chef’s cookbook. But it’s Child’s life as a Paris-based spy in World War II that gives the movie its seasoning and Streep a shot at her 16th Oscar nomination.
