Slated for release in 2025, the upcoming K-drama revolves around two individuals pretending to be a married couple

Jung So-min is eyeing a new romantic comedy with Choi Woo-shik. It creates anticipation far in advance of the actors’ confirmation to star in the upcoming project.

Recently, the news broke via Korean media stating the SBS K-drama currently titled Would You Marry Me (aka Marry Me in Space) may have Jung and Choi share screen time in the lead roles.

Slated for release in 2025, Would You Marry Me revolves around two individuals pretending to be a married couple. Lee Ha-na, best known for her previous works such as Cunning Single Lady (2014), The Time We Were Not in Love (2015), and Rookie Cops (2022), is charged with drafting the screenplay.

2024 has been a successful one for both Jung So-min and Choi Woo-shik, with their works receiving positive feedback from several quarters. Jung So-min co-starred with Jung Hae-in in the much-loved romantic comedy series Love Next Door. In the story, Jung So-min plays a woman trying to start over after all things go wrong in her life. She returns to Korea and reconnects with her childhood friend cum neighbor next door. As their relationship assumes a romantic angle, the narrative follows their personal growth through roadblocks and family drama while finding solace in the warm embrace of friendship and love.

A Killer Paradox, Choi Woo-shik’s 2024 release, only adds to his impressive body of work. The intricate crime psychological thriller also happens to be one of our 10 best K-dramas of 2024. It has Choi’s Lee Tang, who accidentally kills a serial killer and is left in the thick of a gory aftermath. Beyond his initial anxiety of losing custody of his life, he comes to identify crooks and begins to eliminate them. Things get murkier when seasoned detective Jang Nan-gam (Son Suk-ku) enters the scene, and Song Chon (Lee Hee-joon), a former detective, is also pursuing him.

Jung So-min and Choi Woo-shik together in a romantic comedy, bringing their acting skills to the screen, makes for a distinctive viewing experience. The plot of a “fake marriage” ignites the potential for a prospective romance and those swoon-worthy moments that distinguish romantic K-dramas while simultaneously peppering the process with comic elements.

Would You Marry Me, I feel, is a story exploring the complexity of interpersonal relationships in addition to combining tender romantic moments with humor and perhaps significant thought-provoking insights.

The actors’ potential pairing comes as fans eagerly await Choi’s other upcoming drama, Melo Movie, alongside Park Bo-young, Lee Jun-young, and Jeon So-nee in significant roles. Melo Movie is all about catharsis—realizing dreams and pursuing love and happiness while recovering from past wounds. The story will introduce Choi as a cinema critic who meets Park Bo-young’s character. She’s also in the film industry, and both of their lives begin to change as their meeting evolves into something more as they connect over their passion for films.
