It looks like the mass hysteria which surrounded British rock band Coldplay’s India performance in November at the Global Citizen Festival, is all set to reappear. Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, on his Purpose World Tour, may add a date in India to promote his 2015 album of the same name.
According to the Mumbai Mirror, the 22-year-old musician is set to make his India debut in Mumbai, the only stop in India. While the details about the show are unknown and there has been no confirmation from Bieber himself, Percept Media co-founder and Sunburn Festival inceptor Shailendra Singh is rumored to be in the process of making the show happen. “Officially, I can neither confirm nor deny this,” Singh told Rolling Stone India earlier today. “There are always a lot of legalities involved.”
With no solid confirmation from Singh either, fans are at this point simply hoping for a positive outcome based on the massive success of Coldplay’s visit. Various global superstar musicians made their debuts on Indian shores in 2016- singer Demi Lovato, American rapper Jay Z and British band The Vamps also performed at Global Citizen India. The Vamps ended up visiting twice, granting fans a mini-show at Hard Rock Café in Mumbai and a meet-and-greet at Rolling Stone India and Twitter India’s #RollingWith sessions.
