Kamaal Williams, Daphni, Peter Cat Recording Co. to Perform at Magnetic Fields
The annual music festival’s sixth edition takes place this weekend in Alsisar, Rajasthan
Focusing on the theme of ”˜Magnetic Minded,’ the 2018 edition of music and arts festival Magnetic Fields will explore a state of open-mindedness to all sorts of ideas, no matter how controversial they might be and will also feature a diverse music terrain of genre-bending artists from around the globe.
The annual music festival ”“ which takes place between December 14th-16th at Alsisar in Rajasthan ”“ will feature performances by headliners that include U.K. jazz fusion outfit Kamaal Williams, London-based producer Daphni (who was originally scheduled to perform at last year’s edition of the festival), Tottenham’s DJ EZ, Belfast-bred duo Matt McBriar and Andy Ferguson aka Bicep as well as New Delhi psychedelic rock band Peter Cat Recording Co.
This year the BUDx South Stage will witness a performance by Middle Eastern experimental collective Noon. Also, the BUDxYARD, designed as a space for late-night partying will see a plethora of artists perform there like Dutch DJ Carista, Toronto-based DJ Nino Brown, Scottish house artist Denis Sulta and also Mumbai-based DJ Zokhuma.
Also on the bill is sythnpop-techno producer Aqua Dominatrix, Spanish experimental producer Cora Novoa, hip-hop/blues-rock act Fopchu from the capital and Mumbai-based DJs, Spacejams and Kini Rao. In addition, live electronica acts like Lifafa, Malfnktion , Sid Vashi are also slated to play. Boxout Soundsystem, comprising DJ MoCity, Madstarbase, Abhi Meer, Dualist Inquiry and Manaalina will open the festival.
New Delhi-based venue The Piano Man Jazz Club is prepared to curate a pop-up session featuring Rollsroy’s ”“ which comprises musician Sumit Roy guitarist Kaushik Manikandan, bassist Akshat Pradhan, drummer Shantanu Sudarshan and keyboardist Pranay Parti.
Another highlight of this year’s event is the inclusion of U.K. DJ Joy Orbison. The DJ is currently helmed as one of the best talents in the dance circuit and is all geared up to bring his bass, house, jungle and dub sounds to Magnetic Fields.
Apart from the music, Magnetic Fields will also include a storytelling platform called Magnetic Words wherein speakers such as comedian Aadar Malik, photographer and filmmaker Avanti Rai, YouTube star Amandeep Singh and more will talk about their views on what they think the future holds. Festival attendees can also experience a World War II themed treasure hunt, yoga sessions, art installations and more.
