New Delhi-bred, Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Kamakshi Khanna will promote her new EP Heartbreak 2020 in eight cities starting later this month.

The Heartbreak 2020 India Tour kicks off in Bengaluru on Aug. 23, followed by performances in New Delhi (Aug. 24), Jaipur (Aug. 25), Mumbai (Aug. 28), Goa (Aug. 30), Kolkata (Sept. 4), Shillong (Sept. 6) and Guwahati (Sept. 8).

Khanna took to Instagram to talk about putting the tour together. She said, “After almost 10 years of playing live across the country, I bring to you my very first, self-produced, Heartbreak 2020 India Tour!” She added, “It’s been one hell of a journey and none of it would be possible without your support over the years. Each and every gig and word of encouragement has led to this point and I can’t wait to meet you guys and sing my heart out with you.”

The four-track Heartbreak 2020 features Khanna traversing familiar stories of love lost, with production assists from Pranay Parti, Raag Sethi and Anhad Khanna. “I Blew It!” gets into indie-pop with synths for a song about self-sabotage, while “Love Is Not A Fucking Game” is a poignant commentary on modern romance. “Tourist” floats along with lush, jazz-informed production while the title track is a playful and hopeful confessional.

Khanna has previously said about the four-track EP in a statement, “Born out of my lockdown series, ‘The Green Room Sessions’, ‘Heartbreak 2020’ dives deep into the chaos of modern loneliness. Each song is a raw, real-life account of the various situationships and relationships I navigated through in my 20s. From awkward dates and mind games to short-term flings and unrequited love, to still finding a sliver of hope, there is something in there for everyone. Beyond the EP, the tour is a retrospective of my musical evolution, capturing the essence of my journey through love, loss, and everything in between.”
