Kanye West Slashes Yeezy Merch Prices to $20

All products are available to ship to India

Kanye West, aka Ye, has set the price for every item in his Vultures 1 collection at $20 (₹1,700).

In a surprising move, the 46-year-old rapper has offered to sell all items listed on the Yeezy website for just $20 each. However, there’s a catch: the shipping cost for all orders is set between $50 and $70 (₹4,150-₹5,810).

Among the items in the collection are Ye’s recently launched Yeezy Pods, originally priced at $200 (₹17,000).

Many fans on Twitter are theorizing that this pricing has been introduced to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Ye’s debut album, The College Dropout.

In a recent video interview, Ye discussed his intention to lower the price of his merchandise. The rapper expressed his desire for GAP to offer his Balenciaga collaboration to customers for free, but the brand declined to agree to this.

In the video interview posted to Instagram, Ye described himself as a modern-day “Robin Hood,” emphasizing his efforts to make high-end designs more accessible.

“I’m a bit of a Robin Hood,” he said. “People can go and say, ‘OK. This multi-billionaire went and spent $4 million on Balenciaga in one year.’ But did I bring the designs back down to earth? As much as I could, because GAP didn’t take it to $20 the way I wanted to.”

According to Ye, the brand aimed to preserve the exclusivity associated with Balenciaga and GAP collaborations. He said that the brand wanted to “protect the classism of the idea of Balenciaga and the idea of GAP. Or the idea of a Gap and Ye collaboration and Balenciaga collaboration.”

Rolling Stone India has contacted the “Follow God” rapper’s representatives for comment.

Ye’s debut studio album, Vultures 1, in collaboration with singer Ty Dolla Sign, was released independently through Ye’s brand YZY on February 10th.

The album contains collaborations from Lil Durk, Bump J, JPEGMAFIA, Freddie Gibbs, Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, Quavo, and Ye’s oldest daughter, North.

Vultures I is the first album released by Ye and Ty Dolla Sign. The duo plans on releasing a second volume on March 8th, with the third following on April 5th.
