Haim, Q-Tip, Chemical Brothers, Charli XCX, Bat for Lashes and Chvrches also set for 'Mockingjay' album
The track list for the Lorde-curated The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Pt. 1 soundtrack was revealed Tuesday, and the young “Royals” singer has done an impressive job of mixing established artists, up-and-coming acts and special guest features.
Lorde, Chvrches, Bat for Lashes, Grace Jones, Tove Lo and the Chemical Brothers with Miguel all provide new tracks to the soundtrack, which will also see Charli XCX team up with Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon on a song called “Kingdom.” Even Kanye West drops by to “rework” the Lorde cut “Yellow Flicker Beat.” The soundtrack is out November 17th, four days before the film itself hits theaters.
“Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance,” Lorde said in a statement. “The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.” There is still at least one more surprise, as details for the fifth track have not yet been announced.
Lorde herself will appear on four tracks: The single “Yellow Flicker Beat,” a Kanye West rework of that track, the closer “Ladder Song” and as a guest on Stromae’s “Meltdown,” an all-star collaboration that also features Pusha T, Q-Tip and Haim.
