In Whose Name?, the upcoming documentary from director Nico Ballesteros, chronicles six tumultuous years in the life of Kanye West. In this exclusive clip from the film, which hits theaters September 19, West raps a verse for Drake in what appears to be a studio space. Drake lauds, “that verse is crazy,” and says, “I know what that is, I get excited about those.”

The clip, from 2018, features a demo version of West’s “Wouldn’t Leave,” which he recorded for a since-scrapped project called Love Everyone. The final version of “Wouldn’t Leave” featured PARTYNEXTDOOR and appeared on his 2018 Ye album. Kanye and Drake would later clash in 2018 as a consequence of the latter’s feud with then-GOOD Music artist Pusha T. Since then, their public relationship has never been as friendly as the clip depicts, with the two repeatedly dissing each other in songs.

Ballesteros told The Hollywood Reporter that starting at age 18, he recorded more than 3,000 hours of footage of the controversial artist, and serves as the film’s director and editor, as well as a producer. He followed Ye while working on his Yeezy brand and Sunday School gospel events, as well as controversies involving a beleaguered 2020 presidential campaign, amplification of conservative conspiracy theories, and antisemetic remarks.

The film chronicles his well-publicized experience living with bipolar disorder. The trailer begins with him noting, “I’m off my meds for five months now,” and concludes with him opining, “You know the best thing about being bipolar? Anything you do or say is an art piece.” The documentary will be released by AMSI Entertainment in conjunction with AMC, Regal, and Cinemark.
