Bengaluru will witness a melting pot of cultural activities over the next 10 days as it readies to host the seventh edition of Yes Bank Art Bengaluru tonight. The event will cater to art and design lovers as well as offer music buffs something to look forward to.

Held at The Collection, UB City, which is touted as south India’s only luxury shopping mall, the cultural extravaganza will feature art workshops, photography classes, film screenings, talks by reputed artists and performances by international musicians between August 19th-28th. To widen the scope of its appeal across patrons, the festival has also partnered with the British, French and Italian consulates this year.

Tonight, renowned Indian-American composer and producer Karsh Kale will take the stage and present his signature genre-bending act with his band The Collective. Also set to perform at the festival is Belgian DJ and producer duo Wolfpack (August 20th) and percussionist Sivamani’s Siraha Trio (August 28th), a fusion act who mix Indian classical ragas with Western harmonies.

Festival organizer Uzma Irfan believes that an event like theirs give a chance to even laypeople to appreciate art. Says Irfan, “Art Bengaluru strives to fuel this [cultural] growth by giving an opportunity for artists to showcase their work, not just to art lovers but the rest of the city as well.” Irfan also encourages schools to bring their students to the festival to initiate them into community art projects. “We have invited distinguished artists from different countries to display their work alongside our national gems. Every year, the endeavor has been to make it [the festival] different and unique,” she adds.
