Kinect Adventures

Xbox 360/Microsoft/Free with every Kinect Genre: Sport/Adventure [Two stars]

Kinect Adventures

Featuring five mini-games that are a mix of sport and adventure, Kinect Adventures is a fair introductory experience into body-controlled gaming. The games are eccentric, allowing you to pop bubbles in space, stop leaks underwater and jump over obstacles in a roller coaster. They’re okay at best, with the good ones among the lot being Rally Ball and River Rush.

Rally Ball has you using your limbs to hit a ball in order to destroy a wall of blocks. It’s enjoyable in multi-player as every gesture is accurately detected along with its intensity, so much so that fast shots transformed into fireballs. A lot of fun even if it got extremely tiring really soon.

River Rush has you leaning left and right in order to navigate a raft across dangerous waters. Jumping allows you to capture adventure pins to boost your score. Like most games for Kinect, it’s best played with a friend.

Given that two out of five mini-games are worth playing (the others are lacklustre at best), it’s not a recommended buy but you’re not exactly losing much as it comes bundled free with every Kinect purchase.
