King Teases New Album ‘MM’ Ahead of Cannes Red Carpet Appearance
The hip-hop and pop artist, who recently released ‘Bumpa’ with American star Jason Derulo and producer Karan Kanchan, will be repping Indian music at the French Riviera
India’s top rap and pop star King will be heading to the 77th Cannes Film Festival in France, making his red carpet debut between May 14th to May 25th among several other stars representing the country’s entertainment industry.
King, who launched his fragrance brand Blanko in 2023, will be walking along the French Riviera soon enough. The news comes as the “Tu Aake Dekhle” hitmaker also preps his next album MM, the follow-up to the hugely successful 2023 album New Life. He said on Instagram earlier today, “MM… in the next few weeks. Take a deep breath, you might not get a break later.”
While New Life included songs like “Tu Jaana Na Piya,” “Sarkaare” and “High Hukku” with singer-composer Nikhita Gandhi and boasted collaborations with rapper Gucci Mane and singer-songwriter Julia Michaels, King’s most recent track was “Bumpa,” with American R&B/rap/pop artist Jason Derulo, with production assists from Karan Kanchan and Riz Shain.
The Indian artist had told Rolling Stone India about “Bumpa” during his April cover story interview, “My fans are in for a surprise; Jason and I have crafted a track that will set the clubs on fire,” King said. “I’m also working on material that aligns with my fans’ expectations while also exploring new territories they’d never imagine I’d venture into.”
He added about his upcoming album, “My aim with this album is to unite a variety of artists and enhance their authentic talents. I’m not seeking anything different from anyone; my sole objective is to bring out their skills. This project will stand as a substantial catalog of collaborations in the history of the Indian music industry.”
The full form of MM is yet to be revealed and that might just drop in the coming weeks as hinted by the artist. At the moment, however, it looks like there’s plenty of global spotlight on King for the “Maan Meri Jaan” artist to soak in.
