Mumbai electronic artist Kiss Nuka aka Anushka Manchanda will make her way to Glastonbury Festival, one of the world’s biggest music gatherings, later this month on June 28th.
Making her debut at the diverse festival that’s home to over 80 stages, Kiss Nuka will perform a live set at the Greenpeace Field stage between 6 pm and 7 pm BST on Friday. The Greenpeace stage is known for its sustainable design and ethos that reflects the environmental company’s actions and will also host the likes of desi-origin artists Nabihah Iqbal and Yung Singh, DJ-producer Jayda G and more.
Kiss Nuka says in a statement, “I am a massive fan of Greenpeace and the powerful work they do, so playing the Greenpeace stage at Glastonbury feels like all the stars aligned to create the perfect bit of magic for me. I have deep respect for many of the fearless, path-breaking artists who have performed there, and am humbled to have a place on that stage. I’m ready for the muck and the music!”
Kiss Nuka has released a new song ahead of the U.K. show – the hectic and entrancing “Witches Brew.” Previously, in 2023, she released her EP Raat Rani, which brought in socially conscious and ecological themes with dancefloor-deep electronica.
Kiss Nuka joins several other desi origin artists at Glastonbury including veteran singer Asha Puthli, producer Nitin Sawhney, Grammy-winning artist Arooj Aftab plus those at the Arrivals stage, featuring seasoned DJ Bobby Friction, Baalti and Raji Rags. Elsewhere, the Arrivals takeover brings Indian DJ Pia Collada to the Wishing Well stage on Saturday, June 29th.
Previous Indian artists to have performed at Glastonbury include electronic duo Shaa’ir + Func (in 2008 and 2014) folk-fusion act The Raghu Dixit Project in 2011 and 2015 and ska act The Ska Vengers in 2017, among others.
Considered one of the biggest music festivals in terms of stages as well as audience attendance, Glastonbury Festival takes place at Worthy Farm, near the town of Pilton in Somerset. Top stars like Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA, Shania Twain, Disclosure, Burna Boy, The National, James Blake, Peggy Gou are expected to bring their A-game to the festival as well.
