The Norwegian producer on why he doesn't like being categorized as tropical house, his process of choosing collaborators and his album 'Kids in Love'

Kygo says his musical influences include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, The Killers and several more bands.
“For me it’s fun and interesting to see the country,” says Norwegian producer Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll aka Kygo. It’s November 2017 and he’s in India for the second time; only now it’s while on a solo tour with shows in Mumbai, New Delhi and Hyderabad. “Last time I was here I was in Goa but I only had one day so it was very short, but this time I’m here for a couple of days so I can actually see a little more of the country.”
He greets us with a smile and friendly, ‘Hi I’m Kyrre,’ and after a quick bite of sushi, sits down for a chat about his music, his process of choosing collaborators and addresses why he’s not fond of being categorized as tropical house. “I do understand ‘tropical house’ is a good name for the kind of music that I’ve been making, but I’m just not a big fan of putting my music into a box,” he says, adding that his musical influences include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, The Killers and several other bands.
The producer also opened up about the process of making his latest album Kids in Love, which released in November 2017, explaining that he devotes whatever time he has off from touring to making more music and finding the perfect collaborators.
