Look at her now! When Lady Gaga was studying at New York University, some of her classmates made a Facebook group titled, “Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous,” bullying her for fighting for her dreams. Now, Gaga is having the last laugh.

On Wednesday, the singer looked back at that time in her life, commenting on a TikTok with a screenshot of the now-deleted Facebook group, which showed a photo of Gaga with a giant X on it, juxtaposed with all of her accomplishments, including her Academy Award, 13 Grammys, two Golden Globes, and numerous other trophies.

Gaga briefly attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, although she withdrew in 2005 to pursue a career in music and acting. Around that time, Gaga started building a name for herself, performing in downtown Manhattan clubs as she developed the stage name Lady Gaga, inspired by the Queen song.

There are even videos of her singing “No Floods” from the Columbus Day Parade in 2005 and at an NYU talent show, before she took on the Gaga moniker.

“Gaga is this stronger individual part of myself that I discovered being young in New York — loving music, meeting with young artists, working with musicians, with writers, studying the scene and being involved in the lifestyle,” she said during an Actor on Actor interview with Jane Fonda for Variety. “I started to call myself Gaga.”
