Lady Gaga Teases Possible First Single From ‘ARTPOP’
Makeup artist posts photo of Mother Monster working on possible track artwork
The first single from Lady Gaga’s upcoming album ARTPOP may be titled “Applause,” considering the pop star’s makeup artist, Tara Savelo, posted a photo of Mother Monster working on what may be the track’s artwork.
Though the title for the disc’s first single remains unconfirmed, the photo’s caption “26 days” seems to hint at the impending August 19th date Gaga promised for the new single. ARTPOP is slated for release on November 11th, though it will be available for pre-order along with its accompanying app ”“ described as “a musical and visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion and technology” ”“ on September 1st.
Gaga offered a little more insight into the record/app in another post on her website, a snapshot of a page from a notebook that contains what could be lyrics: “If only fame had an IV/ Baby could I bear/ Being away from you/ I found the vein, put it in here.” After “here” is an arrow pointing towards a crudely drawn cage surrounded by stick figures and a peculiar-looking creature. “Documented this album/app ARTPOP project in a series of notes and books, with visual ideas and sketches throughout,” Gaga wrote in the caption. “I take this book everywhere.”
While Lady Gaga was forced to cancel 22 shows on her Born This Way tour earlier this year in order to undergo hip surgery, she’s set to return to the stage this September as part of the iTunes Festival at Camden Roundhouse in London. The day before ARTPOP‘s release, November 10th, she’ll also host an “artRave” that will feature several collaborators, including artist Jeff Koons and performance artist Marina Abramovic.
