Randy Blythe remains in Czech prison on charges of manslaughter
The prosecutor has reportedly challenged Blythe’s attempt to secure bail with a payment of $400,000, double what he initially posted to guarantee his release as he waits for a possible trial.
The prosecutor will submit his reasoning for the challenge to a judge on Friday; the judge will then have five days to rule, then five more days to write up and release his findings. Unless charges are officially brought against Blythe, the judge’s ruling will be final, which means the frontman could be able to leave the Czech Republic without any bail conditions.
Blythe was arrested on June 27th in connection with the death of a fan at a Lamb of God concert in 2010. Authorities claim that the frontman allegedly shoved the fan ”“ identified by Czech media only  as “Daniel N.” ”“ from the stage.
The band maintains Blythe’s innocence completely, noting a handful of YouTube videos of the show in question as proof. The band’s manager, Larry Mazer, sent Rolling Stone one such clip earlier this month, explaining that the fan had already climbed up onstage twice before: “The third time he tried to climb up onstage, the security guard grabs him, throws him down the stage,” he continued. “You see him thrown on the floor. How does the prosecution in the Czech Republic do an investigation of this, charge Randy Blythe with manslaughter, when this video shows a security guy throwing the guy onto the floor?”
Mazer pointed out other holes he saw in the prosecution’s case, such as the lack of a report of an injury at the show and the fact that the show’s promoter was contacted about the incident months after it occured and stated he knew nothing about it.
Earlier this month, the band released a statement regarding Blythe’s arrest, which ended: “Randy is our brother and we assure you, we are all staying very positive for him, working endlessly behind the scenes to provide any and all assistance possible . . . The best we can do is to stay positive and continue to support our friend that we know is innocent. We know that justice will prevail and we will continue to do our part to support our friend.”
