Last Remaining Light and D’s Kitchen Announce ‘Broken Roads’ Tour

Vocalist-guitarist Siddharth Basrur recalls the nonstop travel [and also getting stuck on the road in the North East], the sacrificed hours of sleep and getting over performance jitters when his alt rock band Last Remaining Light [LRL] were on the eight-city 2Stroke Tour last year. Says Basrur, “It was really strenuous but a lot of fun.”

Almost a year after hitting the road for 2Stroke with Kolkata rockers Ganesh Talkies, Last Remaining Light return to play four cities next month alongside Bengaluru rock act D’s Kitchen. The Broken Roads tour, put together by D’s Kitchen manager Subhash Rao, features the two bands performing in Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and Chennai from August 4th to 7th.

Rao, who drew inspiration for Broken Roads Tour from international models as well as the preceding success of 2Stroke, began planning in April this year. “We’re making it possible with whatever we’ve got because it’s all about the music,” he explains. While the tour is two weeks away, the organizer says he’s still looking out for sponsors. Rao indicates that the Broken Roads Tour will be a series that will have more editions in the future, with an aim to put Indian bands on par with their international peers.

Basrur is nonetheless looking forward to the tour and performing newer material. “The [Broken Roads] tour is definitely going to be different from 2Stroke, in the sense that we were not prepared for 2Stroke.” says Basrur. The alt rockers will perform material from their self-titled debut album, as well as newer tracks like “Mercury” and “Shiver”. Says bassist Adil Kurwa, “I want to show everyone the new sound with Last Remaining Light.”

D’s Kitchen, on the other hand, are not sure what to expect from their first tour, but are looking forward to a good turnout. Formed in 2014, the Bengaluru-based band [comprising drummer Madhusudan Raman, guitarist Vaibhav Kumar, bassist Abhishek Thomas and vocalist Rohit Kamath] will perform material from their recently-released debut album Light Does Echo as well as newer work. Says drummer Raman, “All the cities are pretty exciting. Mumbai is new, so we can’t wait to play there!”
