Lauv and BTS Collaborate On A New Remix of ‘Make It Right’

The partly-animated music video portrays the relationship between the group and their fans

South Korean pop powerhouse BTS and American singer-songwriter Lauv unveiled their collaborative remix of “Make It Right” earlier today. The original track which was featured on the group’s 2019 EP Map of the Soul: Persona was co-written by Ed Sheeran.

The remix version is accompanied by a partly-animated music video. In addition to clips of the seven members of BTS onstage and backstage during their Love Yourself Tour, the video also features an animated boy going on an adventure with help from a little blonde girl. The boy (possibly signifying BTS), faces many challenges which the girl (representing BTS’ fandom ARMY) helps him conquer.

While the sound stays true to “Make It Right”‘s original soulful R&B composition, the vocals see a slight change: Lauv starts the first few verses and chorus in English before BTS rapper j-hope comes in and segues the track into the original version. Lauv then joins the rest of the members every time the chorus comes in.

Prior to the release, the two artists had teased a collaboration on their respective social media accounts–Lauv got fans suspicious after posting a photo of himself with BTS, dating back to June when the artists had met. In the new version of the image, the singer had photoshopped himself wearing a ruffled white shirt to match the group’s concert stage outfits, accompanying it with the question, “Did I finally #makeitright?” BTS replied with a sweet but ominous “You always #makeitright,” causing more speculation within both artists’ fandoms. The collaboration was then confirmed by BTS’ label BigHit Entertainment later in the day. The news doesn’t come as a big surprise however, considering Lauv has previously voiced his desire to work with the South Korean megastars, including in this interview with Rolling Stone India:
