Lay Zhang to Participate in EXO’s ‘Don’t Fight The Feeling’

The Chinese vocalist and producer is all set to join his fellow band members again after nearly four years of hiatus from South Korean activities

Excitement is running high with EXO teasing their upcoming special album Don’t Fight The Feeling through a series of teaser photos of the group’s members. What caused the most thrill on social media today, however, was the inclusion of a teaser image for Chinese vocalist and producer, Lay Zhang.

Zhang was on hiatus from South Korean promotional activities since 2016 and had decided to step back from EXO to focus on his solo career in China. He took on many mantles, making a mark in music, film and television in his home country. Now after nearly four years, Zhang will be seen celebrating EXO’s ninth anniversary with his group on Don’t Fight The Feeling. The vocalist had previously briefly participated on the group’s 2018 record Tempo, featuring on the Chinese version of its lead single, “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo” and making a cameo in the Korean music video.

So far EXO have released a series of solo teaser photos with strong futuristic thematic elements–possibly to connect their long-running interplanetary fictional storyline. The members participating in this release are Lay, Chanyeol, Xiumin, D.O, Baekhyun, Kai and Sehun.

The teaser video, which announced the group’s first comeback since 2019’s Obsession, showed a radar detecting movement as nine dots appeared within the vicinity. Later on, EXO released a five-part comeback schedule, teasing upcoming content pieces ranging from music video clips, teasers, and an intriguing prologue and screening set to release on May 31st and June 1st respectively.

Don’t Fight The Feeling is scheduled to drop on June 7th at 6 PM KST (2:30 PM IST) and will include a sentimental, acoustic pop song B-side track titled, “Just As Usual”.
