Sorry “Fearless,” but Le Sserafim might have just trumped you with their latest release “Antifragile.” Leading the group’s EP of the same name, the track marks the group’s first comeback in five months following the release of their debut single, “Fearless,” which made quite some noise upon its release.

Stylized as an upbeat reggaetón track, “Antifragile” runs sonically parallel to “Fearless,” which saw the group adopt an alternative-pop soundscape with overall subdued production elements. Though still oozing elegance and exuding confidence, “Antifragile” is more powerful with its messaging as the group reminds listeners about the importance of perseverance: “I’ll climb higher/ Top of the world I itched for/ No biggie if I were to fall/ I’m antifragile, antifragile.” The single – though heavily focused on Le Sserfim’s journey thus far – acts as a source of motivation to those going through a slump and needing the required energy to lift themselves up. The titular refrain “Anti-ti-ti-ti-fragile, fragile” is strategically sprinkled throughout the single, making it a solid earworm.

With a potentially fatal meteoroid approaching Earth, the crowd going haywire by its descent and Le Sserafim being absolutely unfazed by its immediate dangers (whilst looking fashionable), the music video stirs up quite an addictive concoction between fashion and drama. Further backed by a breezy yet sleek choreographed routine, “Antifragile’s” music video underlines what Le Sserafim wants to be known as – a performance powerhouse.

Clad in chic denim ensembles, members Sakura, Kim Chae-won, Huh Yun-jin, Kazuha and Hong Eun-chae stepped onto the stage during the global media showcase held a few hours shy of their album release. Having released the lead single on Monday, October 17th at midnight KST (Sunday, 16th October 8:30 pm IST), the group had further insights to share on the recording experience.

“‘Fearless’ received a lot of love but I think this [Antifragile] performance is better than ‘Fearless,'” Leader Kim Chae-won commented on her mindset around this comeback. Kazuha thought back to her group’s debut, stating she pondered the possibility of people listening to their music. But this time around things were different. “I practiced harder thinking of our fans,” the vocalist confessed. “Some might say that five months is too short, but the theme and the tracks of this album were already picked even before we debuted,” Hong Eun-chae further elaborated on the group’s preparations for this comeback. As for the theme of the EP, Kim Chae-won remarked that it roots itself in the group’s unanimous outlook on” growing and becoming stronger in the face of hardship.”
