Lee Jun-ho seems to be getting the best of both worlds right now, whether it’s drama or films. The 2PM star and popular Korean actor is making headlines currently with his excellent portrayal and the success of his ongoing drama, Typhoon Family. And while riding high on its success, fans are eagerly awaiting his upcoming series, Cashero. Adding to the excitement is the big news! Lee has been offered a leading role in the next chapter of the hit Korean movie, Veteran.

Soompi reports that O3 Collective, the actor’s agency, has stated that he’s reviewing the role positively.

Veteran (2015) became one of the highest-grossing films in the history of Korean cinema, directed by Ryoo Seung-wan. A gripping opus of crime, action, and suspense, it pits a fearless and seasoned detective, Seo Do-cheol (Hwang Jung-min), against a ruthless conglomerate heir, Jo Tae-oh (Yoo Ah-in), while investigating a case linked to him. And while the odds are stacked against Do-cheol, he won’t ever back down. The film’s finale is an intense ride, with an equally fierce showdown between Do-cheol and Tae-oh that’s appropriately described as a battle between the unstoppable and the untouchable.

The film’s sequel, I, The Executioner, also known as Veteran 2 (2024), screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2024 in its midnight sessions, “Out of Competition” category, introducing a serial killer. To catch him, Hwang Jung-min’s Do-cheol teams up with rookie officer Park Sun-woo (Jung Hae-in), unaware he’s actually the killer. In the end, a confrontation between the two has Do-cheol spare Sun-woo’s life, to make him face the consequences for his actions. But here’s the twist: a post-credits scene reveals Sun-woo escapes, setting the stage for the next instalment.

Lee Jun-ho’s potential involvement in Veteran 3 (working title) has surely sparked excitement, suggesting a thrilling continuation of the crime drama franchise with three superstars on board—Hwang Jung-min, Jung Hae-in, and Lee Jun-ho. Nothing has been revealed yet beyond Lee being approached for a starring role, with further details on the plot, cast additions, and production timeline yet to be announced.
