German-bred DJ and techno artist Lilly Palmer is all set to begin her latest India tour today. Ahead of her shows in New Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Goa, Kolkata and Bengaluru, we caught up with Palmer to talk to her about what the last year has been like for her, what her Indian fans can expect from the gigs and what she’s got planned next. Read below.

How’s 2023 been for you as an artist?

Well, I have to say that this year was just incredible. I think I can say that it has been the most important and also the best year of my life so far. A lot of dreams have come true and it’s been great both personally and professionally.

I married my dream man, Egbert, bought myself a horse and played at such great festivals and clubs that I thought there was nothing more I could do. Whether it was [at the] Tomorrowland Main Stage, Nature One, sensational U.S. gigs like at Space Miami and the Escape Halloween Party or all my Amnesia Ibiza gigs for Pyramid and my own float with the We Love Techno crew at the Street Parade in Zurich with 1.2 million ravers and I definitely have to mention the Rose Festival in Lyon. This festival was just legendary.

On top I was also able to establish my label Spanung Records very successfully on the market and have achieved a lot with my own releases and the first three tracks for 2024 are already finished and are waiting to be unleashed. It’s been a great year for me, not to mention all the great people I’ve met and the loyal new fans I’ve gained.

What do you look forward to the most when you travel to India?

I have been to India quite a few times now and India will always have a special place in my heart. One of my very first international gigs at the beginning of my career was in India. I still remember how excited but yet nervous and anxious I was. I have a lot of Indian fans and they are just crazy but in a fantastic way. I went viral on Instagram in India in 2022 and that really boosted my popularity as a techno artist in India. I love Indian culture and try to enjoy it as much as I can while being there. I can’t wait to be back again and this tour will be the biggest one so far. Great clubs, cities and I’m sure absolutely crazy parties.

What can people attending your shows expect from your set?

I will of course play many of my own tracks and releases from my label and take my fans on a musical journey. As always, I will feel and capture this incredible energy in the clubs and respond to it with my energy and resonate with the audience. I’m sure it will be another unforgettable experience.

What do you have planned going into 2024?

I am about to sign a major record deal and have already finished producing many new songs for 2024 with Egbert. We are going to expand my label Spannung Records significantly and I still have a few surprises in store. For now, I want to finish 2023 as great as it has been all year and then my team and I will continue to discuss and plan everything for 2024. A lot is already on the way. One of my new tracks is a dedication to my Indian fans.
