Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington Dead at 41

The alt rock band’s lead vocalist reportedly committed suicide

Chester Bennington, lead vocalist of alt rock band Linkin Park, has died at the age of 41. 

According to TMZ, the singer was found dead at a residence in Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles County and appears to have hanged himself. He is survived by his wife and six children. 

Linkin Park are hailed as one of the pioneers of alternative rock, their 2000 debut album Hybrid Theory considered integral to the movement, and the group had just released their chart-topping seventh studio album One More Light this year.

Bennington had admitted to struggling with drugs, alcohol and depression at various stages in his life.  The news of his death comes just two months after the suicide of close friend and rock legend Chris Cornell who would have celebrated his 53rd birthday today.
