Lisa Kudrow Says She Found a Note From Matthew Perry in ‘Friends’ Cookie Time Jar

"Timing is everything," she told Drew Barrymore on her talk show

Lisa Kudrow is remembering Matthew Perry. While appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress said she discovered a sweet note from her late Friends co-star with a cookie time jar from when the sit-com concluded.

“Matthew gave that to me at the end of our last episode,” Kudrow said of the cookie jar as she got emotional. “I had recently found the note that he had in it for me. I hadn’t opened it up or looked inside of it. But yeah, he did. He had a note in there and I forgot about it.”

“Timing is everything,” she added without revealing what’s inside the cookie

The exchange came after Barrymore asked the actress if she had ever stolen anything from set.

Shortly after his death, Kudrow shared a poignant tribute to the late actor on Instagram, as she reflected on shooting the pilot for Friends Like Us. “You suggested we play poker AND made it so much fun while we initially bonded. Thank you for that,” she wrote at the time. “Thank you for making me laugh so hard at something you said, that my muscles ached, and tears poured down my face EVERY DAY.”

“Thank you for your open heart in a six-way relationship that required compromise,” she continued. “And a lot of ‘talking.’ Thank you for showing up at work when you weren’t well and then, being completely brilliant. Thank you for the best 10 years a person gets to have. Thank you for trusting me.”

Perry died on Oct. 28, 2023 at the age of 54 due to “high levels of ketamine” in his system. Five people — two doctors, Perry’s live-in assistant, a TV producer, and a woman dubbed Los Angeles’ “Ketamine Queen” — were arrested and accused of supplying Perry with the drugs that led to his fatal overdose. Last October, Perry’s mother said she was “thrilled”  with the criminal cases related to his death.

“What I’m hoping, and I think the agencies that got involved in this are hoping, that people who have put themselves in the business of supplying people with the drugs that’ll kill them — they are now on notice,” his stepfather said to Today. “It doesn’t matter what your professional credentials are. You’re goin’ down, baby.”
