Preview new tracks from Jack White, Florence and the Machine and more
The horn stabs that kick off the soundtrack for The Great Gatsby are straight out of the Jazz Age but, in a flash, they’re taken over by the futuristic huskiness of Will.i.am’s voice. It’s just one example of the pervasive decade-hopping that ties together the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel, and now you can get a 30-second taste of almost every song on the record. (Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait a little longer to hear Beyoncé and Andre 3000’s cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black.”)
Included in this teaser clip are snippets of Jack White’s sparse, resonating “Love Is Blindness” and “Over the Love,” another pounding, operatic number from Florence and the Machine. Emeli Sandé and the Bryan Ferry Orchestra also take a gin-soaked, big band spin through Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love.”
