When we heard the teaser to Jabalpur metalcore band Cynic Bliss’s new single “Desiccated,” the breakdown was enough to tell us there’s a catchy track in store. The four-member band, who released their debut three-track EP Never Ending Conundrum in April this year, aim for a more polished mix of clean vocals and tighter composition on “Desiccated.” Says drummer Palash Verma, “It’s all about progressive metalcore this time.”

It’s been an eventful couple of months since we last spoke to Verma. The band added another guitarist ”“ Jabalpur-based Kunal Singh, played a couple of gigs last month ”“ including one in Jabalpur and a band competition at IIT Kharagpur ”“ and roped in Pune-based producer Onkar Tarkase [from metal band Chaoskampf] to record “Desiccated” at their home in Jabalpur in August.

Up next, Cynic Bliss plan to gain national exposure with college gigs and festivals. Says the band, “This year, we will play only at IITs and we’re hoping to get great gigs across the country. We want to play at some big fests like NH7 Weekender to share the stage with well-known artists and get our music around.”
