Kolkata metal band Yonsample are done playing the waiting game. Their new single “Median,” is the first taste of new material since their 2012 singles “Sundered Vicinity” and “Espial Abyss Afloat.”
Groove-heavy with a prog edge, “Median” was recorded as part of Yonsample’s upcoming debut full-length album earlier this year, at RBK studios in Kolkata. Says the band’s bassist Anirban Banerjee, “It is perhaps the least heavy track that we have ever written. The melodic elements which are present throughout the record, take more prominence than usual with this track with keyboards and clean vocals taking center stage.” Yonsample originally started writing “Median” in 2013, but left it unfinished until early 2014, during their pre-production phase.
While the band spent most of August recording with Kolkata-based producer Rhitabrata Kar, the band says there some parts are yet to recorded. With Kar unavailable due to his busy recording schedule, Yonsample are currently looking for a mixing engineer to record all remaining parts.
