Just over six months after they wrapped their inaugural edition in India, Lollapalooza returns to Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Race Course on January 27th and 28th, 2024 for its second outing, with tickets going on sale starting August 23rd.

While the lineup and further details are yet to be announced, there will be an exclusive pre-sale for RuPay credit card holders starting August 23rd and another pre-sale for BookMyShow and festival “loyalists” from August 25th onwards. General sales for Lollapalooza India 2024 opens for all starting August 27th. Tickets for general access are priced at ₹6,999 and Lolla Lounge tickets will sell for ₹14,999, with the NEXA Lounge tickets selling at ₹44,999.

The news comes along with the tagline that Lollapalooza India 2024 promises to be “twice as epic.” The 2023 edition was headlined by the likes of arena-rock act Imagine Dragons, rock favorites The Strokes, Hong Kong singer-rapper Jackson Wang, dream-pop act Cigarettes After Sex, Punjabi star AP Dhillon, rockers Greta Van Fleet, electronic artists like Madeon and superproducer Diplo, among others.

The festival was arguably a big draw, even as fans originally expected even larger, globally-renowned legacy names in rock to be on the bill. Could Lollapalooza India deliver on that front in the coming year? Time will tell.

For the most part, the two-day festival remained a massive undertaking for India promoters BookMyShow Live. The chief of business of live entertainment, Owen Roncon, said in a statement that Lollapalooza India achieved “a remarkable feat that was never-seen-before in terms of scale, production, audience interest and enthusiasm.”

In new data shared about the first edition of Lollapalooza India, 20 percent of audiences were Gen-Z, while 35 percent of attendees traveled from outside Mumbai to attend.

The news of Lollapalooza India 2024 arrives quite early for those anticipating the country’s music festival season. After all, apart from Magnetic Fields Festival in Rajasthan announcing their dates and tickets (which are nearly sold out), staple events like Ziro Festival of Music are yet to announce their lineup, while Bacardi NH7 Weekender dates are yet to come out as well. The likes of Echoes of Earth in Bengaluru, however, are set for December 2nd and 3rd, while the Mahindra Group announced dates for all its live music and culture events well in advance.

BookMyShow Live, the live entertainment experiential division of BookMyShow, India’s leading entertainment destination will spearhead Lollapalooza India as the promoter and co-producer for the festival’s Indian edition along with global producers, Perry Farrell [from rock band Jane’s Addiction] and C3 Presents.

Lollapalooza’s other global editions coming up include Berlin (September 9th and 10th, 2023), Chile and Argentina (both taking place from March 15th to 17th, 2024) and Brazil (March 22nd to 24th).
