The Local Train and Lucky Ali Team Up for Love Song ‘Tu Hai Kahaan’

Two of indie pop and rock’s beloved artists – Lucky Ali and The Local Train – team up for a gentle, heartwarming song “Tu Hai Kahaan,” for the soundtrack to Bollywood rom-com Do Aur Do Pyaar.

It not only marks the first release from The Local Train – now comprising guitarist-lyricist Paras Thakur, bassist Ramit Mehra and drummer Sahil Sarin – since their 2018 album Vaaqif, but also the first commissioned film song for the band. For Ali, who leads “Tu Hai Kahaan” with his distinctive earthen vocals, it’s his return to a Bollywood soundtrack after nine years, last singing “Safarnama” for the film Tamasha in 2015.

Offered as a love letter of sorts, both Lucky Ali and The Local Train play to their strengths and bring their own signature sound to “Tu Hai Kahaan.”

Ali, who recently released his album Subah Ke Taare with producer-composer Mikey McCleary in February, says about his latest release, “I like to be selective about the songs I sing for films. When I heard the scratch of ‘Tu Hai Kahaan,’ I loved it and felt it would suit my voice. I enjoyed working with the young composers. I hope my fans enjoy it.”

The Local Train added in their statement, “We’re excited that our first stint with composing for an original soundtrack has none other than Lucky Ali lending his voice and style to it. We’ve tried to capture a certain bittersweet nostalgia in the track. Like how you feel when you revisit an earlier time in your life that you still cherish deeply.” The band was out of the spotlight for a few years since they parted ways with vocalist-guitarist Raman Negi in early 2022 and are now plotting a return with new music.

Previously, Do Aur Do Pyaar was introduced with the song “Jazbaati Hai Dil,” sung by pop artists Armaan Malik and Ananya Birla and composed by electronic duo Lost Stories. While the soundtrack released via thePanorama Music, Do Aur Do Pyaar is directed by filmmaker Shirsha Guha Thakurta and presented by Applause Entertainment, an Ellipsis Entertainment production.

Slated to release in theaters on April 19th, the movie stars Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Ileana D’Cruz in lead roles.
