'Attention' pops up on YouTube after Twitter requests
After a group of hungry fans hounded her on Twitter to release new music, M.I.A. emailed one of them a new track, “Attention,” which has now popped up on YouTube, Pitchfork reports. “The fullest attempt in my intent / Is to let you know what is important / My existence is militant / Cause my content bangs like it’s potent,” raps M.I.A. on the cosmically tribal track, which samples Bone Crusher’s 2003 hit “Never Scared” for its hook. No word on if the song will appear on M.I.A.’s forthcoming record, Mathangi, which has no release date yet.
