Indian-American producer and activist Kiran Gandhi is set to embark on her first India tour starting this month. Gandhi, who makes music (with sound designer Alexia Riner)Â under the moniker Madame Gandhi, will start her tour in New Delhi on December 8th and will go on to perform at fests like Bacardi NH7 Weekender Pune and Magnetic Fields plus solo shows in Bengaluru, Goa and Mumbai.
Having initially gained fame for being rapper M.I.A.’s former drummer, Gandhi made global headlines in 2015 when she went viral for running the London Marathon on her period and free-bleeding the entire way. The producer has since used her fame to shed light on issues around gender discrimination, racism, privilege and more. On her five-track 2016 debut EP Voices, Gandhi uses rap and electronica to discuss feminism, love and politics.
Gandhi stated she’s ready to set out on the tour, “with the intention of sharing with my audiences what I have learned this year, [and] to expand my understanding of global feminism by engaging in dialogue with everyone I meet along the way.”
