Chicago blues legend Buddy Guy may not be returning to headline the Mahindra Blues Fest this year, but the annual, Mumbai-based blues festival is bringing down plenty of other renowned international acts. Artists on this year’s lineup include Grammy-winning musician Keb’ Mo’, nine-piece outfit Heritage Blues Orchestra, British singer Joss Stone, American singer/songwriter Malina Moye and Glasgow blues/rockers King King. Also joining the lineup is Shillong blues heavyweights Soulmate.

Over the years, MBF has gained festival cred as one of Asia’s largest blues gatherings, having curated prominent international and local blues personalities such as American Grammy-winning artist John Lee Hooker Jr., Tedeschi Trucks Band, Walter Trout and Jimmy Thackery.

This year’s highlights  include three-time Grammy Award-winning artist Keb’ Mo, known for his unique mix of blues with folk, rock and jazz and New York blues collective Heritage Blues Orchestra, which pack in harmonicas and horns on their bold, brass-driven sound.

Besides bringing together seasoned blues musicians from around the globe to India, MBF also encourages local, up-and-coming talent in its recent additions of the TSM Stage, dedicated to Mumbai-based True School of Music students, or its nationwide Mahindra Blues Fest Band Hunt that offers one up-and-coming band a chance to take stage at the fest.

Mahindra Blues Fest 2016 will take place on February 13th and 14th at Mehboob Studios, Mumbai. Click here for more details.
