The third edition of the blues fest will take place on February 16th and 17th
Jimmie Vaughan
The third Mahindra Blues Festival will host four-time Grammy award winner Jimmie Vaughan this year. Vaughan, who is the older brother of blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughan, will be joined by his band The Tilt a Whirl featuring Lou Ann Barton. The line-up for the festival, which takes place between February 16th and 17th, also includes electric blues artist Ted Horowitz, best known by his stage moniker Popa Chubby and famous voice-over artist Dana Fuchs with her band.
While Buddy Guy, who has headlined the blues festival two years in a row will skip this year, making a comeback this time is pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph and The Family Band. Randolph, who had featured as a special guest during Guy’s 2012 performance, has been described as “one of the most intense live acts in all of jamdom” by ROLLING STONE. Walter Trout will also make a return this year and will play with his band The Radicals. Delhi band Big Bang Blues, who released their debut album earlier this year, and Shillong’s Soulmate will also perform as part of the two day festival.
This year, the festival will also include a workshop on the Mississippi Delta and Chicago-style blues slide guitar by slide guitarist Michael Messers. Â
