The event will be hosted in March at the city’s iconic Jayamahal Palace Hotel

Feb 09, 2023

Today, the Mahindra Group announced a brand-new festival called the Mahindra Percussion Festival that is scheduled to take place on March 18th, 2023, at Bengaluru’s historic Jayamahal Palace Hotel. The one-day event will play host to multiple genres, with percussion elements at the forefront of the festival.

While the lineup is still to be announced, the artists that are set to be on show will include the likes of homegrown talents as well as internationally renowned musicians. The event also aims to showcase never-seen-before collaborations. Apart from the music, the organizers are also putting together a curated food and beverage experience attuned to the vibe of the festival.

Seasoned Mumbai-based drummer Ranjit Barot said in a statement, “India is the rhythmic centre of the universe. I’m thrilled to be able to present this aspect of our unique culture to our audience. From swing to hip-hop and beyond, the DNA of all things current lies in the past. We now share this with you. Come and feel the heartbeat of our country, and it’s a connection with the rest of the world.”

Event organizers Hyperlink Brand Solutions’ founder VG Jairam added, “Evoking a celebration of rhythm that deeply stirs human emotions, the Mahindra Percussion Festival is a uniquely mesmerising culmination of music, food, festivity, and culture with the power of percussion and expression at its core.”

Drums and percussions are always the backbeat and engine room of the rhythm section for a song, and the Mahindra Percussion Festival highlighting this for not only percussionists, but also music enthusiasts who have a keen interest in the art, promises to make for quite an experience.

Jay Shah, Vice President – Cultural Outreach at Mahindra Group, said, “With Mahindra Percussion, we intend to create a world-class cultural experience with a clear focus to democratise various percussion art forms. Aligning the brand Mahindra with the percussion art form and its sub-cultures, we aim to connect and empower communities globally while promoting inclusivity and equality. And with many more future editions, we hope the festival becomes a mainstay of the Indian percussion soundscape.”
