MAMAMOO’s Wheein To Part Ways With Label RBW
The vocalist will continue to be a part of the group till December 2023
Just days after the release of MAMAMOO’s first all-ballad album, WAW, Wheein has announced her departure from the group’s label, RBW.
In formal statement released earlier today, the agency confirmed their contract renewals with members Solar, Moonbyul, and Hwasa, and promised to provide them with “generous support to fulfill their dreams in musical activities and various fields.”
However, RBW added that despite several rounds of discussions with Wheein, the rest of the members and the company, the vocalist has decided to end her contract. Instead, she has signed an extension till December 2023, allowing her to be a part of the group’s upcoming promotional activities such as concerts and albums:
“Hello, this is RBW.
First, we would like to sincerely thank everyone, including MooMoo both in Korea and abroad, for loving and supporting MAMAMOO... Wheein has been in in-depth discussions with us like the other members for a long time, but in the end, she decided not to renew her contract. Hence, we would like to inform you that our exclusive contract with her will be terminated... We fully respect Wheein’s choice, and we sincerely wish Wheein, who is starting a new chapter in life, happiness and good fortune. We would like to thank Wheein for shining with us for the past seven years.“
The quartet, who are currently preparing for their summer concert to promote their latest EP, WAW, released a music video for the album’s lead single “Where Are We Now” early last week. The music video, which has garnered over nine million views, takes on a cinematic approach with the members reflecting on their life thus far.
